About Us

Who we are:  TACSound is currently a U.S. based nonprofit corporation with IRS 501(c) tax exempt status.  TACSound is an affiliate of the Scottish Country Dance Teachers’ Association (Canada), informally referred to as “TAC.”  Visit TAC through this link  Another affiliate is TACBooks which sells instructional Scottish dance books and for musicians, a selection of music books.  Visit TACBooks at

What we do:  TACSound sells recorded music and instructional DVD’s for use by teachers of Scottish Country dancing or by any Scottish dancing enthusiast.  The recordings are primarily designed for Scottish Country dancing but there is a modest selection of recordings for Scottish Ceilidh dancing, Scottish step dancing, Old Time and Sequence dancing, and of Scottish music suitable for waltzing or listening.

TACSound ships globally to customers who place orders online.  Orders are also accepted via email  Customers pay shipping costs but folks who live near the TACSound managers can arrange to have their items delivered to them without shipping costs.

TACSound participates in TAC’s Summer School and Teachers Conference Weekend events, where recordings may be purchased directly by attendees.

If your dance community is planning an event and would like to make arrangements for TACSound recordings to be available for sale at the event, please contact us to discuss potential arrangements.

Management:  Management of TACSound is appointed by TAC’s Executive Committee and changes approximately every five years.  The current managers are Melissa Whitson and Ken Heinemann, who run the company from Portland, Oregon.  Melissa is a long-time teacher of Scottish Country dancing and Ken has extensive dancing experience.
